Get to know monica

Hi there! I’m so glad you’re here and I’m excited to get to know more about you and your fiancé! But before we dive into all the fun details of wedding photography, here’s some commonly asked questions and some more about me!

Q: How long have you been doing photography?

A: I’ve been a photographer professionally since 2015! I photographed my first wedding that year and that’s where I fell in love with weddings. I’ve been doing it since! Overall, I’ve been a photographer since high school when I learned old-school film photography which I still LOVE!

Q: How many weddings do you photograph a year?

A: Because I want my couples to have the best, I only take on 25 weddings a year so I can serve my couples to the best of my ability. I want to give you the attention you deserve, and I’m not overworked so I’m in my best happiest place! Due to this, dates book up quickly!

Q: Do you have a second photographer?

A: YES! I include a second photographer in all my packages because I believe it is so important to capture as many different angles during your most important moments! Having another point of view is incredible and you receive more images as a result of having a second photographer. My seconds are chosen by me for their professionalism and talent. They are photographers who I am friends with and trust to do their best work!

Q: Are you licensed and insured?

Absolutely! I am licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia and have my insurance policy to protect myself, you and vendors. I can give a copy of my insurance to your venue if required or to you if needed! Just ask :)

Q: What gear do you use?

I’m a Canon girl! My dad loved his Canon camera and that’s the one I grew up learning how to take photographs on. I shoot with the newest Canon 5D Mark IV and have an assortment of Canon lenses and flashes. I carry a backup camera on me (Canon, of course!) and multiple batteries and memory cards are my must-haves as well.

Q: Do you travel to weddings?

A: YES! I love to travel! I’ve been so blessed to have traveled to several different countries and over half of the states in the US. Ask about a custom package for destination weddings! For in state travel, I absolutely do travel! For engagement sessions, I charge $0.30 per mile for locations outside of 30 miles from my home. Wedding day travels in Virginia and Washington DC are included :)

About Monica:

I’m a wife to my hilarious husband and Mama to the cutest baby boy and Siberian husky. I’m a wedding photographer but fun fact: while we have both planned one, we’ve never had a WEDDING! My husband was in the US Air Force and one day (the day after Thanksgiving) we decided that we wanted to get married! I packed what I needed and flew from our hometown in Chesterfield, VA to Minot, North Dakota where he was stationed. On December 30 2015, we said I do at the courthouse in good old Minot. We’re planning our actual wedding so our families and friends here can attend! We’ve been trying to have a wedding but our first anniversary, we moved back home after my husband finished his service in the military. Our second year anniversary… we had a 2.5 week old baby! Our sweet baby was due 6 days before our anniversary but he arrived on December 13, 2017. So third time’s the charm right? We’ll have our wedding sometime!

Luca is our baby boy and being his Mama gives me so much indescribable joy. He’s the light of my life and those baby giggles melt my heart every single time. But before there was Luca, our only child was Blaze. He’s our 3 year old spoiled-as-can-be Siberian Husky. These two boys are my favorite and I know once Luca is a toddler, these two will be thick as thieves and I’ll constantly be on my toes.

I LOVE to travel! I’ve been to 32 of the 50 states, lived in New York, Virginia and North Dakota, traveled through Mexico, Guatemala and El Salvador and I’ve even been to JAPAN! It was such a special trip for me, I flew to visit my husband (then-boyfriend) who was stationed in Northern Japan for two weeks. You’ll see hints of cherry blossoms throughout the website as a small tribute to my trip there and to the gorgeous cherry blossoms here in our backyard of Washington DC!

Life is always fun and never boring, and I’m so blessed to call it mine.
